In the last two decades there has been a growing trend towards nongraded elementary school, The advocates of this plan clain several reasons for eliminating grade level labels for children. But the point to be considered here is the great difference in the learning rates of children. When children enter the first grade, they may differ by as much as four full years in their mental ages.
Public schools are free to all boys and girls, but some parents prefer to send their children to private schools. Some private schools are connected with churches, and children receive religious instruetion as well as their regular studies. Other private schools are not religious, but have small classes and very good teachers so that parents think their
